Growth for G42 with expansion to India and birth of Core42
G42’s growth story has been nothing short of phenomenal.
Formed just five years ago in June 2018, the Abu Dhabi-based technology holding company has grown from a team of just 30 to more than 22,000 – incredible growth fuelled by the transformative nature of AI technologies rapidly adopted around the world.
In that time, the group has grown to nine companies, launched the world’s largest supercomputer for AI training, open-source released the world’s most advanced Arabic large language model (LLM) – and forged partnerships with the likes of AstraZeneca, AWS, Cisco, IBM, Illumina, Microsoft, Nvidia, Oracle, and Schlumberger.
Powered by the belief that AI has the potential to improve lives, G42 works with both the public and private sectors to deliver innovative solutions via world-class infrastructure.
And now, in the next stage of its global growth, the technology powerhouse is synergising three of its nine companies and expanding its pioneering AI and cloud innovation to India.
G42 next steps – birth of Core42
The tech company has announced it is synergising the power of three of its companies – G42 Cloud, Inception Institute of AI and cloud and cyber market leader Injazat – to create Core42.
Led by a world-class team, including Kiril Evitmov as CEO and former G42 Cloud CEO Talal M. Al Kaissi as Chief Product & Global Partnerships Officer, Core42 – like its parent G42 – draws inspiration from Douglas Adam’s science fiction novel ‘The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’ where '42' is the universal answer for the meaning of life, the universe, and everything.
"Our audacious vision is to establish Core42 as an unparalleled Enterprise AI delivery force with a global footprint," Talal recently announced in a LinkedIn post.
"Tapping into our diverse strengths, from public and private cloud to high-performance computing, Applied AI, and top-tier managed and cybersecurity services, we're all set to scale resources and computing prowess to spearhead ambitious projects."
The creation of Core42 is not just about the tech, however, but about amplifying G42’s reach and activating both national and international scale programmes.
“Our vision expands beyond borders, ready to resonate across countries and sectors,” adds Talal. “With a focus on GenerativeAI enablement for enterprise applications, Core42 is on course to be the torchbearer for both government and enterprises.”
Along with Core42, G42 has other companies including AIQ – a joint venture with energy company ADNOC looking to develop AI for the energy industry; Bayanat – geospatial intelligence from below ground to beyond the atmosphere; Hayat Biotech – solving life science challenges; Khazna Data Centers – commercial wholesale data centre solutions; M42 – tech healthcare company that is now the biggest in the Middle East; AND Presight AI – big data analytics powered by AI that recently enjoyed a successful IPO.
G42 – expanding footprint to India
One of the countries in which Core42 is set to resonate is in India, as G42 sets up operations in the country.
“We are thrilled to share that we will be soon expanding our operations into India, as we continue our journey towards becoming a global leader in AI,” G42 posted recently on its social media handles.
Leading G42 into this new chapter of global growth is Manu Kumar Jain – a name synonymous with transformative leadership and ground-breaking success in the consumer technology sector.
As Global VP and India CEO for Xiaomi, Manu built the largest smartphone company in India – taking Xiaomi to billion-dollar heights in the country, and before that, co-founded and built one of two largest fashion e-commerce platforms (Jabong) in India.
Based in Dubai, Manu will now work with Abu Dhabi-based G42 Group CEO Peng Xiao, the former Pegasus CEO, to bring its pioneering AI and cloud solutions to the country.
G42 at GITEX GLOBAL 2023
Along with other tech titans spearheading the AI charge, G42 will participate in the world's biggest tech show GITEX GLOBAL 2023, when it takes to the Dubai stage next week (October 16-20).
This will mark G42's second appearance at GITEX – as the tech giant looks to contribute to the dynamic dialogue on AI under the theme ‘Imagination in Action.’
“Imagination in Action isn’t just a slogan but a reflection of the active steps we’ve taken to transforming theoretical AI concepts into tangible solutions, commented Hasan Al Hosani, Managing Director of Bayanat, a G42 company.
“Visitors to our stand will have an opportunity to explore our portfolio companies’ cutting-edge innovations across multiple domains, from data centres, supercomputing and government services, to healthcare, BFSI and smart mobility.
“Together, we look forward to forging meaningful connections, igniting collaborative efforts, and driving societal advancement through the combination of imagination and technology. I’m personally very excited to welcome visitors and introduce them to Bayanat’s latest advancements in the Geospatial AI domain.”
