Tackling corporate climate literacy with AXA and eevie
As the planet heats up faster than predicted, so must corporate efforts in tackling climate change.
While most businesses now recognise their part in the transition to a green economy, with many embracing ESG reporting and putting in place net zero emission targets, the challenge is now translating climate commitments into action.
To achieve this, it is not only the C-suite who must be on board, engaged and knowledgeable – but the entire workforce.
Yet, according to a Kite Insights survey of more than 7,000 private-sector employees across 15 major industries worldwide, while employees are motivated to be part of the transition – with eight out of ten ready and willing to act on climate change in work – the majority (70%) are calling for training on climate action in the workplace.
Not only do employees want more CSR and sustainable action from their employers, they want to be upskilled in these areas and directly involved in business decarbonisation.
Such a call to action by employees comes as the new European Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) mandates some 60,000 companies to educate and engage key stakeholders – and as companies increasingly shift from strategy setting to strategy implementation.
One company already engaging and upskilling its employees on the climate change journey is AXA, the global insurer, whose aim it is to train 100% of its 149,000-strong workforce on climate issues by the end of 2023.
To facilitate this journey, in 2021, AXA launched the AXA Climate School, a sustainability training provider that doesn't just upskill its own employees but works with more than four million learners worldwide on sustainability training, including organisations such as Microsoft, Unilever, and Heineken.
Today, more than 130 organisations integrate the Climate School, making it accessible to more than 4 million people worldwide.
Now, the insurer is taking its climate content and expertise to even more businesses worldwide – as part of a brand-new collaboration with eevie, the leading app technology company for Employee Climate Engagement.
Launched in its latest version in April this year, the eevie app has been designed to empower employees in mid-to-large-sized companies to drive impactful climate action.
This partnership will see AXA Climate School put its content on to eevie’s mobile app and work with corporates to create a personalised programme of learning that is relevant – and that takes a behavioural design approach to ensure sustainability becomes an integrated part of the corporate culture.
The goal? To inspire, engage, educate and empower employees around climate change – thereby strengthening corporate sustainability efforts in organisations worldwide.

“Our partnership creates a powerful proposition. Putting our content in eevie’s platform helps drive engagement, and making this content available helps end users understand why they need to act and how.”
To kick off the partnership, AXA and eevie are working with a global F&B client to bring their employees – from the corporate office to the manufacturing site – an initial year-long sustainability journey, providing educational content that will highlight the various sustainability aspects of the F&B company.
What’s more, employees will be brought together in monthly climate challenges, putting what they’ve learnt into practice.
